TWENTY-FIVE TIMES I TOLD YOU SO + In this series a repetitious grouping of hand-made resin coated wood cubes are juxtaposed generating vibrational rhythms and pattern. The color, a deep guttural red, corresponds with Smith's investigation into the physicality of contemplation. Our hardened hearts, our willingness to segregate our emotions from actuality, dividing evenly, savoring those sections we love, carving apart obsessions. A recurring red palette in Smith's works, inspired by landscapes and light, evokes the emotional tone of the red sand desert at day's end—a time for reflection, contemplation, and even blame.
